Love

Can I just say that this little boy is the most wonderful, beautiful, kissable, huggable, lovable endearing baby ever? I can hardly set him down I'm so busy enjoying holding him. His smiles and coos just twinge my heart and make my eyes water. I love kissing those soft cheeks and sweet nose. I am so glad our family will be together forever because my world would end if he ever left it. He truly is a bundle of joy.

He's started slobbering so bad that we have to put a cloth on our shoulder if we don't want it to be sopping wet and cold within a few minutes.
He blows bubbles while he smiles and laughs at you.
He's started sucking on his pudgy fingers, so cute.
His face shows great expression as he talks to you. So serious.
He's starting to get bald spots on the sides of his head from rubbing. It's making his crazy hair look even more crazy!
At 3 months he is already moving into size 3 diapers!
Very soon he will be in 6 month clothing.
Wow, we can hardly believe it's been 3 months.
Time is moving too fast, I want to freeze it and slow down each moment so I can enjoy them more.I love my little boy!

Misconceptions

Once again I've been blown away by my students...

1. Several times in the last two weeks I've had students ask how people keep from falling off when they go to the underside of Earth or at the poles. Nothing I or my coworkers say seems to make it clear to them that that won't happen. They understand that gravity holds you down, but they don't get that it pulls you toward the center of Earth, not just down in their relation to Earth. (This reminds me of Prince Caspian in the Narnia book "Voyage of the Dawn Treader." That's the only place I've ever encountered this type of thinking!) I thought that after Columbus proved the Earth wasn't flat everyone got it. Guess not, we have to be taught it in school.

2. Another student was asking what happens when you get to 'the edge.' It took several clarifying questions to understand he meant the edge of space. The whole listening class was flabbergasted to learn that there is NO end to outer space and that it goes on forever and ever.

3. My coworker was telling me a story of her 7th grade son. In the Health Ed part of Science class a struggling reader kept mispronouncing the male body part to sound like a writing instrument and the teacher never corrected him. All the boys later got together and decided that she did that because "being a lesbian she didn't know he was saying it wrong." Haaa! That's hilarious!

Oh, what a joy to see the way kids think. This is a GREAT argument for formal education! I really like being a Science teacher, I hear the most interesting things and get the most intriguing questions!

Gratitude

I've been wanting to write about the miracles and blessings that we've enjoyed the past while. Here's a few:
  1. Employment: Ian and I have been employed and have been able to support ourselves since we got married. *blessing
  2. Health and safety: we live in a safe, free country.
  3. Dr. Mentakis found my blood disorder thus making it possible for us to have children. *blessing
  4. The molar pregnancy did NOT turn into cancer. *blessing
  5. We got pregnant with Quintin. *miracle and blessing
  6. The kidney problem caused them to find the fluid problem which caused them to watch Quintin's gestation closely and take him out early. *miracle and blessing
  7. All the house and car problems happened in the weeks PREVIOUS to Quintin's arrival. *blessing
  8. The doctors noticed the stress in labor and decided on a C-section, so Quintin was born without serious problems he would have had otherwise (he was born blue). *blessing
  9. Quintin was born full term without the kidney double system they saw in utero. *miracle
  10. Awesome family and friends (like Linea) have prayed and fasted for us non-stop. *blessing
  11. Every day my C-section scar heals more and more. *blessing
  12. FedEx allows Ian to take 7 weeks+ bonding leave! *blessing.
  13. I came back to work with a much easier load thus making it possible for me to go home to my angel and hubby without stressing out. *blessing
  14. My milk supply is finally keeping pace with Quintin's demand. *miracle!
  15. Quintin smiles. *blessing
  16. Quintin laughs. *blessing

I will add more to this as I think of things I forgot!

Our Cutie Pie

Quintin weighs in at 14 lb 10 oz!
He's gained 6 lbs!
He's 24.75 inches long.
He's grown 3.5 inches!
Both are in the 95th %, so he's proportional. :)
A friend told us their little girl sprouted to 20 lbs
in the 1st 3 months then stopped,
so I'm hoping our chances of a giant baby are small...
and that Q will slow down here soon!
Our arms are tired!
